People complain; it's the nature of the beast. But that doesn't mean they have to be rude about it. Calling someone stupid is rude. Calling their best efforts stupid is an indirect way of calling them stupid and if anything, even ruder. Generally, I just ignore the rudeness and if it becomes too much, I go somewhere else. After all, the first rule of the internet is: You can be ignored in less than 5 seconds.
If the Perl community wants to grow and become more relevant, it is going to have to call people to task when they are rude, especially in a beginners group.
