It may not be ALSA's fault per se, but it is more likely a problem with
my ALSA configuration. As I said, everything is perfect if I rmmod all
the ALSA stuff and use the OSS emu10k1 driver. There are no problems
with that driver, so it has to be a configuration issue with the other.

That said, I do have the tinniness gone, and the sound is near perfect.
I'm guessing that there are some routing issues or something. There's a
lot of sliders that don't have any obvious purpose, and I assume it has
to do with one of them, although I haven't stumbled upon the correct
setting yet.
