To recap, on my live drive I have spdif in, spidif out, headphone out,
 mic/line in, MIDI in, MIDI out. So yours should not be any different than
 mine in that regard.

Ok, setting "CD" to capture=on fixed that prob.

Yes, as I stated in the first post. I have tried it at many different levels.
I've played with alsamixer many many times, adjusting all the settings - none
of that seems to help. My headphones are good, I use them on my Church's
recording setup every week

Well, thanks for the help. Is there a list that would be better for getting
the attention of the developers or someone who really knows what's going on?
