The latter, actually. Upon testing, it seems that whenever I have a textbox selected, Safari finds no results for anything, even text in the textbox; when I deselect it, Safari correctly finds results for the entire page including the textbox. In this case I didn't remember reading about Spivak, searched for it, and found no results :/
