Got new batteries in the Symmetra and now all 3 power modules are back online.  So I wonder if they were ever bad to begin with. Not once did the unit ever throw a battery error.

Only error left now is 'Static Bypass Switch Module Fault'  but it's had that since we came into the picture 3 years ago.  And obviously it's switching to bypass and back just fine.....

Our batteries just overheat and shut down generally if it is a bad battery.  You'll know if you feel them.  Usually a warning as well on the panel and GUI.  You sure you matched everything up correctly as far as the right modules, right batteries? for the right chassis?

Do you have more than 2 batteries already installed?

Are there any XR (extended run units) connected to it or just the main chassis?

I have not tried bringing it out of bypass becaue the power
modules show off.  I figure that's just asking for trouble. When
the 2 modules first failed, it went into bypass because there was
too much load on 1 leg and it went to overload.  Once I got the
phases balanced It came out of bypass on its own with the 1 power
module still running.  The original power module shut down and it
went to bypass when I plugged the first replacement module in.

Sounds like it might be a battery problem.  I'm getting
    replacement batteries on order today.

Ahhh  have you tried to bring  it out of bypass?  It’s a bit
of a process to do / does risk dropping the load.

It's not powered off, but it is in bypass.

Ahh is the whole unit powered off?    Battery wise,  you
need atleast two good packs to get it going,  4x would be
            best (one level)

Yes, we've tried multiple combinations of pulling in/out
            and the silver on/off screw.

We are wondering if its a battery problem because if we
pull all battery packs out, it goes to 'no power modules
detected'.  And when we put the battery packs in, it
detects the power modules again and its like the power
modules try to start, but the fans cycle on and off.

(dumb question but sometimes they are the easy fix)  are you
doing the little silver screw to turn them on?  Also reseat them firmly then
turn them on.

We had dozens of the 80kw's running here and have been
migration the to monster 500KW setups lately.

                Subject: [AFMUG] Symmetra UPS Questions

I have a server room that has a Symmetra PX 20kw that I inherited.
On the 25th it reported that 2 of the 3 10kw Power modules went bad.  I ordered 2
new 10kw power units, and when i put them in, now all 3 power modules are report
'Off & OK' with a green check mark.  They battery system is reporting 'OK' but
I'm wondering if the batteries might be causing a problem. Will the power modules
not start if the batteries are bad?  There is about 9kw of load on the UPS.

The battery system says Nominal voltage is 192v, but actual
voltage is 154v.  When we measure each pack it's at 96v.  and 2x96 should be
192, so it must need a minimum of 2 packs to work.
