If there were more spectrum, that would make sense. but I watch the communications in the industry. people planning around having massive channel size available in a market saturated with free CAF funds and overbuilds. Im afraid for some of these guys, dumping massive amounts of debt into their operations based on how things are today. my 4x20mhz ABCD 10 mile site today can wake up tomorrow as a 2x10 ABAB half power site tomorrow because somebody put 4 new CPEs in nearby. Thats where the investors make the dough, and the way I see leases being sold, you pay per site with a per active CPE cost to the spectrum holder. Makes it affordable to a WISP to lease the spectrum. Payout on the speculation isnt today, its 3 to 4 years down, when GAA is busy and you own 40mhz of PAL across the entire county. Short term venture capitalists wont be hopping on board, but long con guys would. If I had a spare 225k, id pick up my bosses coverage area and lease it to him over the next decade.
Im just a negative nancy though On Thu, Jan 23, 2020 at 2:10 PM Mark Radabaugh <m...@amplex.net> wrote: > If you buy it but don’t operate in it then the spectrum stays as GAA which > anyone can use. > > I don’t see it as being a good speculative investment play given that it > returns to GAA unless you are actually using it.
