Well, perhaps it seems like a minor issue … but the map is a lot harder to 
scan! and, indeed, out of the box the topic titles are displayed in a paler 
colour than the filenames. (worse on the laptop than in the screenshot) Up till 
now, one of the (many) discreet strengths of XXE has been that the user can 
choose whichever navigation option is more appropriate.



As for asking reviewers to change their way of working to suit an upgraded 
version of the software, that – I'm afraid – is not going to happen! the 
certification labs, to give just one example, use the section numbering to 
match our input to their checklists; also, there are repeated sequences of 
title A > title B > title C, so there could be multiple topics with the same 
title. (terminal type A > operations > troubleshooting; terminal type B > 
operations > troubleshooting; terminal type C > operations > troubleshooting)

In short, if it came to a vote I for one would be strongly in favour of 
retaining the Navigation pane option. It delivers useful information which is 
not available elsewhere in the interface.
