I would personally be for setting a date (or approximately) for a final release. The only thing that could delay it is the modifications done to the server; maybe this could require a beta, to check that it is useable by everyone. As it is, support for beta versions should be dropped when 0.8 is released. Meanwhile, any important bug not yet fixed should be noted in the 0.8 changelog. In this context, I'm not sure about important changes (yours, my patch to remove libxml++). I know people are for adding new stuff, but to me it's just to make new betas worthwhile. Let's stamp something 0.8 and be done with it. 0.8 betas have probably gone for a year.
