A friend of mine in Colorado, Stew, who teaches CS wrote a paper on "why not
to teach computer science with Java or C++"; Bruce Eckel (in private
discussions) seem to independently come to the same realization.

Stew's paper is arguing to use ActionScript - but the examples show amount
of time learning setup code for the language, and the argument holds well as
an "against" a type of language more than "for" a particular.

Bruce seems to realize both ActionScript and Python as effective for these
same reasons.

I can forward a link to Stew's paper if anyone's interested.
