This is exactly the reasoning behind the argument that VNC should include certain extra functionality on Windows platforms.
The issue is not a problem with VNC; it's a problem with the underlying OS if I understand it correctly. For corporate use, however, the point is not "who is at fault?" but "how do we fix it quickly?" and that comes down to switching to a product such as pcAnywhere all too often. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, 2002-03-26 11:48 Subject: Re: Forced Shutdown of Windows NT/2K Systems > Yes, I am kind of disapointed that this problem has not been taken care of. > VNC needs the same functionality as PC Anywhere where a remote shutdown is > concerned. > VNC needs to shutdown last so you can observe the shutdown and act on > problems as they occur. > > For VNC to be take seriously by many Corp ID departments it needs this > functionality. > > Tony Caduto > Programmer/Analyst > M&I Trust and Investment Management > > > > > "John Roland Elliott" > <John_Roland_Elliott@hot To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > mail.com> cc: > Sent by: Subject: Re: Forced Shutdown of Windows NT/2K Systems > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > ch.att.com > > > 03/26/2002 06:42 AM > Please respond to > vnc-list > > > > > > > Isn't anyone else at least a little disappointed with these > "shutdown-and-I-really-mean-it-this-time-comma-dammit" approaches?
