I think the possible problem with zonealarm though is the screen updates. In
the program itself is a running total of throughput, and the icon in the
tray keeps having to be changed. This is all expensive in the terms of
processing. In fact, as I am aware, anything to do with putting anything
onto the screen is the hog. I will post here what Zonelabs say about it, if
they respond. They may say they are aware, and that I should download the
latest version.

It's funny though that it doesn't happen with Laplink over tcpip. It could
be something in VNC that is just creating so much traffic that zonealarm
can't keep up. Mind you, I think that laplink is only in 16 colour (4 bit)
mode.
