Hector, as Tim Waugh already posted, it sounds like what you're looking for
is either a code versioning system or a whiteboard-type system. VNC on
Windows *can* do something like this - you can have multiple users connect
to the same Windows desktop - see the documentation, I think there is an
"already connect" registry option you have to set. I haven't used it
myself, but I understand performance deteriorates rapidly as users connect.
This is mostly due to the fact the Windows architecture is set up to only
have 1 desktop at any given time (ie, the user sitting in front of the
screen, that's it), compared to the something like the X-Windows
architecture, commonly used on most unix-like operating systems. Your
example of a "Word document" is easily replicated using any number of
applications on unix-like platforms (I'm talking about operating systems
like Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD).
Although I haven't used this either, the X Multiplexor from Brown University
(http://www.cs.brown.edu/software/xmx/) sounds a lot like what you want to
accomplish, assuming you're willing to give up Windows ;) Also, I would go
to Google and search for "shared X" - you will probably have better success
there. I'm not familiar with available whiteboard solutions, sorry.
Hope this helps.
