Adding an installer does not mean that I won't ditribute binaries
without it. I think the more packaging variations will be available
the better.

Sure, you will get these features together some day. When I'll finish
my project described at the Cosource.com site, all my code will go
directly to the TridiaVNC distribution. How long will it take --
depends on sponsoring of this project. You or your organization
probably could speedup this process a lot by joining other sponsors.

By the way, my Windows packages with tight encoder are based on the
TridiaVNC source, so disabling wallpapers will work in VNC Tight
Encoder 1.2.

Regarding official VNC distribution, it's not simple to say will it
include Tight encoding code or not. I hope it will at some point and
I'd love to help this happen.
