Also, do you have anything *else* which might possibly be listening on port 5900? Try this... assuming it's a Windows machine, click on "start" then run then type "telnet" and hit the "enter" key. You'll get a nice box with a black background and the prompt will read "microsoft telnet". At the prompt type "open 127.0.0.1 5900" and see if you get anything. With RealVNC you should see a response "RFB 003.008". If you get anything else, or "unable to connect to server" you know you've got something misconfigured.
