Hi Christopher,

I think the fact that I don't want my phone call to be interrupted by
Voiceover reading incoming text messages, push notifications or emails from
people who are on my V.I.P list is not too much to ask. I don't mind a short
announcement of some event, but if Voiceover starts reading an email I
actually have found myself having to ask the other person to just hold on
for a moment until I was able to stop it because I could not hear them
behind Voiceover talking. In my opinion my smartphone is still a phone and
many people nowadays have a cell phone only so phone functions should have
priority. I also have no idea if the extra programming which would be
involved would introduce new bugs so to use that as an argument is in my
opinion one of those "what if" scenarios one can come up with for anything.
One thing that I thought of the other day and which I haven't tried is to
maybe press one of the volume keys if I am on a call and Voiceover starts
reading. After all, this does silence the ringer so maybe pushing the volume
up or down key would interrupt Voiceover as well which if it works would
probably be a very good and easy solution for the time being. Maybe somebody
has tried this and can confirm if it works or not otherwise I'll try it next
time I have the opportunity to do so and I'll post my finding.

Regards,
Sieghard

I don't understand James' reasoning. The whole reason I have a smart phone
and all of the apps on it is to make my life easier. Sure more coding is
involved and sure this may introduce some bugs, but hopefully those will get
ironed out and we'll end up with a greater number of features and an easier
to use phone. Laziness has nothing to do with it.
