I did not try recording any birds because it is a hot muggy day around here. Here are a couple of issues. Here is the biggest one. When you start the app Voiceover does not come out of the speaker. It is as though you are on a phone call. If you press the home button and come out of the app and go back in then voiceover comes out of the speaker. (I did not try with headphones to see what would happen.) I am thinking that this happens because the app wants to use the microphone, and so it puts any sound on the phone to the ear piece. This is fixable, but strange! Most of the controls are fine, but some of them are labeled with words with no spaces. For instance on the first page there is a control that is labeled “taptorecord.” The app does have a reference section where you can hear various birds. This section has a letter index and a search that is accessible and works. On the page where you hear the birds songs/calls there is a description of the sound just as there is in the “Chirp! Bird Song & calls USA” app. However, if you want to read the description of the song/call, you have to hunt a bit toward the bottom right of the screen. Take care! Because it is on my phone, I can’t tell if the price has changed. I think I am going to get the “ChirpOMAtic” and try it out.
