I would be happy to supply any info I can.

I have not mounted usbfs.

I have to believe there is a permission issue somewhere.

Although not in /dev/bus/usb. I have modified these ( as root ) in 
almost every fashion you can imagine.

I don't know what other permissions to view/change (possibly in /proc ?).
