The WBX have no filters at all. If you have the gain cranked up with a
broad-band antenna, expect the RF amp and mixer
to go running home to momma. The only filters are the baseband
filters on the other side of the mixer.
But you still may be right that the first-stage amp may have been
abused--one of the symptoms is that they become
MUCH more sensitive to non-linear operation. Also, the 900MHz band
in the U.S. is often used for STLs (studio links)
between an FM radio studio and their transmitter site. So *THAT* may
not be images at all.
