Mark Thank you for such a quick response. Personally I don't have much interest in Tomcat's Windows installer. I am more interested in the directory structure that you get from expanding apache-tomcat-nnn.tar.gz

I'm not sure that is any reason other than "it has always been that way". It is something to consider for 9.0.x (work starting on that soon).
