Are  you  using  spamd/c? If not, the install shouldn't take much more
than  10-15  minutes.  Depending  on  installation of dependencies and
config  setup  if  you are using SQL to store bayes and user_prefs. At
least  that's  what  it  takes  me  installing  into  ActiveState Perl
v5.8.7.815 from scratch. I've just had to unpack the .zip archive, run
'Makefile.PL', run 'nmake' and finally 'nmake install'.
