Same problem here: Studio XPS 1647. Tried with 2.6.35, 2.6.36 maverick, and lucid 2.6.35 rc1 and had the same problem. The only thing I get from the xorg log is : "fglrx(0) : AC Offline" and "fglrx(0) : AC Online". Then it freezes. I have an Ati mobility radeon 4670.
