Hello, Robin.

I had the same experience where Skype worked perfectly under XP, but 
didn't transmit sound properly under Linux. I tried the beta at Chris's 
suggestion, and I'm using the statically linked Skype 1.4 beta now:

        http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-linux-static

This works fine under Ubuntu 6.06.1 LTS :-)
