Here's what I've got currently. Aside from some annoying screen flashing, everything seems to be working. I had to rewrite it in Python because my bash-fu is just not strong enough to deal with all the whitespace/quoting issues. Nobody should be forced to program bash anyway ;-). I'll attach my latest /etc/pm/config.d/00-compiz-stop.sh next.
