Hello Dave, I also tried your suspend/resume fix and also experienced problems with compiz not being restarted after resume because the parent process died too. I am not using compiz-fusion btw. On my installation compiz.real is a child process of /usr/bin/compiz which actually is a wrapper around compiz.real. AFAIK the parent process dies directly after killing compiz.real which causes your resume script to fail after resume not finding the process id and the process environment. Maybe it is possible to save the environment of the parent process beforw killing compiz.real an restart the parent after resume with the backup environment?
