I've tried adding vga=791 and all possible resolutions at all color modes to
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-17-generic root=UUID=0d9bd4d3-7a17-4f00 -af6a-c89697eb5d0d ro splash vga=791 but with all of them bootsplah does not appear, I just get a black screen while booting. That line on my /boot/grub/menu.lst had no "vga=xxx" option and I only have a bootsplah that way. So it must be a bootsplash bug...
