Oh, this might be worth mentioning: just prior the trackpad went non- responsive, about an hour ago, before any rebooting, the Update Manager came up for the first time since I started using the 3.3.7 or 3.9.0 kernels two days ago (which I thought was successful). I installed all the packages it recommended. Here is the entry from /var/log/apt/history.log:
Start-Date: 2013-03-20 23:28:09 Commandline: aptdaemon role='role-commit-packages' sender=':1.77' Upgrade: perl:i386 (5.14.2-6ubuntu2.2, 5.14.2-6ubuntu2.3), perl-base:i386 (5.14.2-6ubuntu2.2, 5.14.2-6ubuntu2.3), gir1.2-gudev-1.0:i386 (175-0ubuntu9.2, 175-0ubuntu9.3), udev:i386 (175-0ubuntu9.2, 175-0ubuntu9.3), libgudev-1.0-0:i386 (175-0ubuntu9.2, 175-0ubuntu9.3), perl-modules:i386 (5.14.2-6ubuntu2.2, 5.14.2-6ubuntu2.3), libperl5.14:i386 (5.14.2-6ubuntu2.2, 5.14.2-6ubuntu2.3), libudev0:i386 (175-0ubuntu9.2, 175-0ubuntu9.3) End-Date: 2013-03-20 23:29:03 The entry before this shows the kernel update.
