Summary : The update was successful. Thanks.

Nevertheless a few remarks:

1.

The following text was very hard to understand. Probably my English is just
to bad.
Taken from https://wiki.kubuntu.org/KubuntuDistUpgrade :

(..)
Click Apply, then Close, then Fetch Updates, then Full Upgrade then Apply
Changes

Quit Adept Manager and restart it.

Click Fetch Updates.

After updating the archive it should offer to upgrade Kubuntu, follow
the wizard and the dist-upgrade tool should be downloaded and run.

Important: there is a bug in the tool, you need to quit Adept after it has
started.
(..)

2.
In the <Terminal> section of the upgrade tool, it was not possible to scroll
back.

3.
During the package installation, the upgrade tool asked a few questions (e.g
regarding mdadm). Is there a way to prevent this questions, so that an
unattendend upgrade installation is possible ?

4.
The upgrade tool first rewrote the souces.list with entries pointing to
Australia such as au.archive.ubuntu.com. Consequently, the download was
announced to take seven days due the very slow download performance! I had to
cancel the download and manually change the sources.list in order to point to a
location in Central Europe. Then, the download took only 50 minutes.
