Package python2.5-gtk2 for Lucid Lynx is a virtual package.
Package python-gtk2 (should) provides this virtual package. Trying to reinstall python-gtk2 made no difference. Trying to install python-gtk2_2.8.6-0ubuntu1_all.deb, or python-gtk2_2.16.0-1_i386.deb (debian version) did not work, since the newest version was already installed. Also, to remove the installed python-gtk2 and install a fresh downloaded version, would pretty much uninstall half of the basic OS, including much of the menu. The whole problem started, when the partial upgrade tried to install a newer version of the package ubuntu-desktop, which is necessary for the update- manager to work. - Stale-made I am confident, as usual, that the Ubuntu developers will repair this partial upgrade for Lucid!
