I have not tried the driver form the vendor you mentioned. But the
included bcmwl driver does work for me. Could you give it another try.
Here is a revised procedure for your reference:

1. Install dkms and patch through the included packages in the
installation media:

dkms: pool/main/d/dkms/dkms_2.1.0.1-0ubuntu1_all.deb
patch: pool/main/p/patch/patch_2.5.9-5_i386.deb

2. Install the included bcmwl driver in pool/restricted/b/bcmwl/bcmwl-
kernel-source_5.10.9...

3. Afterwards, please make sure in System->Administration->Hardware
Drivers: the proprietary (STA) driver needs to be both "active" and
"used" for the wireless to work.
