Hi, Can I join in as I have almost the same prob, except I am using Kubuntu. But I am not getting much luck in the Kubuntu forum...
Also in my case I just didn't get as far as the white logo (or the equivalent in Kubuntu) It just sits there saying cannot mount rootfilesystem. I tried the fsck command as above and had the same outcome as Vick. While updating, I had a request asking if I wanted to keep the same config file - to which I said YES. Could that have any bearing on this. Clutching straws I know....
