Morning all! Still no luck and almost no sleep.
kernel 2.6.28-16-generic is the only kernel that manage to mount the root filesystem, all other kernels end with the "Mount of root filesystem failed" message. My problems are far from over as it seems that in this kernel there is serious display issues. Desktop will look fine for 30 -60 sec. all my icons are there and everything looks OK, then all will disappear and there will only be 3 thick orange horizontal lines with flickering characters in it. It will stay that way. The only change is when I hit Alt-Ctrl-Del, screen full of red, pink yellow and white blocks with special characters flickering in it. Hitting enter at this point, shuts the PC down. Problem is: this is my business PC and thus a reload/clean install is not an option form me at this stage. Can not afford to lose any work files or e-mails. OK! I know, I did not stick to rule 1 of upgrades; Always backup before upgrading your system, but then, we were promised the "Mother" of all Ubuntu releases and with NO previous upgrade issues, this was supposed to be a walk in the park........... it ends up to be Jurassic Park..... -- Mount of root filesystem failed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/468450 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
