I know we're not supposed to use this as a forum for discussion, but this bug has me frustrated beyond belief. I agree with Perry's assessment of the problem. My situation is similar: I stopped using Ubuntu at Hardy because of these unresolved bugs (of which this bug is only one of the many that made my computer unstable and unusable). I've since purchased a Macbook and I have no plans to go back to Ubuntu full- time. I think this bug is a perfect example of FOSS's limitations: if there is no financial motivation to keep end-users up and running, then why put in the hard work to resolve difficult bugs like this one? In short, no one cares if our systems don't work, and that is unacceptable to me. I'm remaining a subscriber to this only to see if anything is done about it.
