Perry's story breaks my heart. :\ I think having the tenacity to see this problem through (much like other problems Ubuntu has had) will likely benefit us all more in the long run. Please, Perry, continue to use your laptop install if you can and help us test new solutions as they arise. Please? :)
That said, I've tried the latest upstream kernel and end up with the same bug.
