*Best,Mark DredzeAssociate Professor, Computer ScienceJohns Hopkins University================================Johns Hopkins University is hiring for MULTIPLE endowed chairs at the associate and full levels in Artificial Intelligence as part of the prestigious Bloomberg Distinguished Professorships program. https://research.jhu.edu/bloomberg-distinguished-professorships/clusters/ <https://research.jhu.edu/bloomberg-distinguished-professorships/clusters/>These positions are part of cluster hires that will also include an equal number of junior faculty hires. AI hiring is focused in two areas: - AI and Society- AI-X, which integrates machine learning with domain expertiseInterested applications should contact b...@isi.jhu.edu <b...@isi.jhu.edu>.Bloomberg Distinguished ProfessorshipsIn 2013, Michael Bloomberg made the first of two visionary gifts that will include a total of 100 Bloomberg Distinguished Professors (BDPs). Among the world’s most accomplished interdisciplinary scholars, these faculty link academic disciplines, open novel fields of inquiry, and invigorate our entire community, all in the service of addressing society’s most complex problems. Each BDP must be appointed in at least two schools or divisions and hold tenured positions in each unit.Having completed the recruitment of the first 50 BDPs in 2020, the second phase will appoint 50 more leading scholars by 2028 across several research clusters. We are excited that TWO clusters focus on Artificial Intelligence. Each cluster will recruit multiple senior faculty, followed by several junior faculty members, and postdoctoral appointments. BDP clusters offer unparalleled levels of support, including access to equipment and core research facilities. Post-doctoral researchers, graduate students, and support staff will also be recruited within each cluster to ensure the cluster’s success. AI and SocietyThis cluster will expand Hopkins’ intellectual community of social sciences, humanities, computer science, public health, nursing and medical sciences to a national leader to converge multidisciplinary frameworks and solve important social problems arising from immersing AI technology in society. Members of the cluster have a pivotal role in uniting and strengthening the range of excellent participating departments, institutes, and centers to address the grand challenges that society faces as AI becomes more pervasive across a range of application areas. Clusters members will be computational social scientists and humanists, computer scientists and engineers, researchers working on AI ethics, fairness, equity, and accountability, and researchers working on applications to enhance human development and health.AI-XThis cluster will focus on the integration of data science, machine learning, and the deep domain expertise to develop scalable and multimodal AI systems that drive discovery, decision-making, and prediction in science, engineering, medicine, and public health. The driving vision is towards AI systems that collaborate with humans to understand and improve the human condition. We seek candidates with expertise in AI and the application of these systems to a diverse range of domains.*
