So NFL games will continue over the air since they usually outdraw (especially the ending of a close game or overtime) the show they are delaying. And playoff overtime that continues until a team scores (except a first possession field goal) means a lot more than regularly scheduled programming. By now CBS and FOX know to expect how long a game will last and can plan accordingly. The only things to push a game past 7:58 ET are a delay like lightning, or the field catching fire the last time the Steelers played the Rams in St Louis, or overtime. -- -- TV or Not TV ....
