In my experience, i've seen only a few NFL games and maybe a few NCAA
Tournament games and a few golf events go past 7:57:30. Off of my head
would be the Eagles/Raiders telecast in 1986, the Purdue Texas A&M second
round NCAA tourney game in Spokane a few years ago, one PGA tournament that
was delayed by lightning, a few NASCAR races on NBC when they first had the
contract, a few US Open Tennis mens finals, the Chiefs-Jets overtime game
in 1988 that caused the closing ceremonies of the Seoul Olympics to be
delayed, and there have been a few close calls between the NFL and the
Emmys over the years too. There was one Indy 500 that caused ABC's schedule
to be delayed too
