With all this discussion about earbuds, I feel I should pass along a
(possibly overcautious) warning from the Safety person where I work. I'd
off-handedly mentioned that I'd just use my noise-cancelling headphones in
the server room, and he was fairly insistent on verifying that they had a
rated Noise Reduction Rating, as apparently just cancelling background
noise isn't enough. So, right now I use foamies with a 32 or 34 NRR, and
forego the headphones, since I couldn't find adequate documentation. Might
want to consider similar, or at least consult someone more familiar with
safety before forging ahead.
