Believe it or not, this really is a technical question that is sysadmin related.

I've just started a new job where I am spending lots of time in a very noisy datacenter. Currently I wear earplugs and/or earmuffs. I have tried using my iPhone earbuds under the earmuffs and too much noise gets past for them to be very useful. So, I am looking for recommendations for noise isolating earbud (with microphone) that I can use under the ugly earmuffs. Besides listening to music while doing inventory, I need to be able to make calls from the somewhat noisy meeting room inside the data center.

Something else I found interesting is that modern Dell notebooks have gone to the same single plug headset connection that the iPhone uses, so these will be very useful for conferencing and such.

Other hearing protection related information is also welcome.

It's not what I know that counts.
It's what I can remember in time to use.
