Just my 2c: The topic of job security is a touchy subject. Firstly lets push it to the extremes:
Did not luddites were primarily concerned about job security? I bet they were. However there are many interesting things are related to this subject, lets consider a short term success versus long term success. Short term success: I can get few bucks now, I need them NOW. It does not matter that I just poisoned the river, polluted the air and left to my children a "gift" of carcinogenic waste.
