True, and if you knew ahead of time what the improvements would be and what problems you'd run into you could make an informed decision. As it stands now though, you'll have to decide if the chance you'll see improved performance or added features is worth the risk of losing the accessibility of some function such as reading the web, access to the help system, using the email client or accessing the list of symbols on the phone. I haven't really looked into this, but I'd also think that with the turn over of these phones, the handset makers aren't putting too much time into firmware updates other than just fixing the most serious issues, so if you're not running into one of those issues then I suspect you won't get much out of the upgrade. Again, I'm just guessing here, but with new phone models coming out almost yearly, you have to wonder how much effort is really going into updating existing firmware versus working on new firmware for new models.
