No everything should be exactly the same as it was before the update unless
something goes wrong. That's why I like the on air updates and avoid the pc
based ones. Every on air update has worked perfectly. With pc updates you
must use a usb socket which is not on a usb hub according to the update
documentation.
It's advisable to have your phone backed up before you proceed with an
update but as I say the on air updates seem to work perfectly and your
phone and third party apps are exactly the same when the update install
completes.

Hi.
May I just clarify here.
If I want to update, will all my settings and saved phone numbers be
deleted and will I need to reinstall Talks again?

people want to update as often it can have great benefits like, increased
battery performance, additional features, like OVI maps, improvements to
performance speed etc.

I wonder why people want to update their firmware each time it comes out.
Sorry maybe that is stupid, but I can use my N95 still on web, e-mail etc
so
I could not even think what I would gain by firmware updates. Then there
is
my e72, again I would not update the firmware as it is all working fine.
I
would suggest firmware updates were only necessary if there was a problem
with the phone and it needed updating.

Well the latest update for the e72 totally removes web access I thought
it
only would effect forms to be filled in. Now when I load the blindsea web
page you are only told how many links and headings there are and nothing
else.
So the browser is now totally inaccessible.
The symbol list again no longer works and if you try and select a
punctuation mark at random the letter i is placed where the punctuation
mark would be.
Perhaps I should get my spare e72 out of the box and swap the sim card.
I
did not update that phone so it still has the firmware where the email
spoke normally, the browser was accessible and the symbol list worked. The
only problem I have is my third party apps are licenced for the handset
that has been updated.
I am wondering if phone updates effect mobilespeak in the same way.
It seems to be a very risky thing to update your phone if you also use
talks. Perhaps a talks rep should be advising the list of possible
complecations of implementing newly released updates. If not the list
then
the talks sms news feature should be used for this purpose.
