I guess the reserved parking spots could be mapped as an area tagged > with amenity=pickup_point on top of a larger area tagged with > amenity=parking. How does that sound? I am open to other ideas. > On first glance, I don't like "point" because I think it's confusing especially if we're talking about a way. But, generally, I don't like the "amenity" thing because it forces everything into one _type_. Which is impossible for the reasons here, so I'm for breaking away from that at every opportunity. While I'm new to OSM, I feel like a lot of others have the same opinion on it. For example, amenity=ice_cream has been called "historic" and it's now suggested to use to cuisine=ice_cream instead, because you can have more than one cuisine, like an ice cream shop that serves bubble tea or makes chocolate (both of which we have in Houston). Another method is * key:pickup=dedicated * key:pickup=yes * key:pickup=no This would work for carports, and parking spots, as we've spoken about. But I can think of other use cases here, like drive-through windows: this McDonalds w526153446 takes payment at the first window and you pick up the order at the second window. We could map these onto the building polygon explicitly if you moved to use key instead of amenity: The second window would be key:drive_through_window=yes, key:pickup=dedicated The first window would be key:drive_through_window, key:payment=yes. This allows a uniform key:pickup everywhere like dive-through windows, carports, and parking spaces.
