+1 for the last remark, but -1 for voting in its current state. Too many
inconsistencies and unanswered questions, e.g. about directionality:
conflicting backward/forward role definition and hierarchy resolution stuff
(that is up to the data users; should IMO be kept only on the talk page).

I think the best way forward is to remove everything but the basics we all
can agree on, define that very precise including scope (just hiking or all
recreational routes?) then vote on that. This would enable basic role
tagging of recreational routes for basic data use (filtered rendering,
filtered elevation profiles and export).
