Hey guys - I had a question about tagging "wayside shrines." The wiki > posits that they are Christian, but I want to use them for another > religion. >
The wiki does not posit that they are Christian, on the contrary: There is a subtag religion and the text says: "Frequently found along the way in Germany, Austria, Italy and probably elsewhere" and refers to the Wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wayside_shrine where the second picture is a shrine in Tokyo. But I don't like the "historic=" tag, because in other contexts it referes to he past use of a building or other object, whereas many wayside_shrines are recent and still in use. This led me to think about other religion-neutral tags main tags, and using > a subtag for the object. > > here in Japan, there are probably tens of thousands of reeeaally small > (Shinto) shrines and (occasionally Buddhist) temples. It would also eliminate the doubts which I always have when entering a brand-new "historic=wayside_shrine" or wayside_cross Volker Padova, Italy
