It appears some of those examples are in conflict with the definition
that seems to have been around for quite a while. Does anyone know how
this tag is actually used?
I use it as intended, for unpopulated named features such as railway
junctions or former bridge or ferry locations that are now named places
(usually Someone's Crossing).
