Download the newest Beta-Version (see Troy's posting about Beta
X). Inside the Zip-Archive, you will find several locale
files. locales.d/ contains the translations for the bible book names;
uilocales.d/contains the translations for the menu strings, dialogs
etc.
Copy e.g. the German files ( locales.d/de.conf and uilocales.d/de.conf
) over to locales.d/he.conf and uilocales.d/he.conf (he is the ISO 639-1
language code for modern Hebrew).
Change the German translations to Hebrew text. Note that for
uilocales.d/he.conf, trailing dots ("...") at the end mean that this
menu entry will open a new dialog box. Please include the dots in your
translation. "&" means that the next letter is a hotkey for a menu or
dialog. E.g."&File" is a common way to write the "File" menu in
English software; this way, Alt+F will select the file menu. Please
place the "&" according to usual usage in your language (it doesn't
have to be at the same position as in the English original).
Feel free to create or improve on more translations for languages that
you are fluent in. For a list of language codes, see
e.g. http://lcweb.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/englangn.html (long; use
the two-letter-code)
[ Side remark -- I think a little "How To" about creating translations
would help to get more people to translate. A notice could be posted
to the crosswire.org/sword/ page as well ]
