From personal experience, of the two, the Røde is the better microphone and their decoding software is excellent. Also, you get a much better deal with the Røde: decent cable length, windshield and suspension mount included, and lower price. I found the Ambeo to be light in the lower end and the included cable is ridiculously short.
In fairness, I should say that the Ambeo that I tried was a demo model, so it may have improved since then, but given that Sennheiser seem to be backing away from the professional side of their Ambeo marque and concentrating more on the home entertainment side, I might be a bit wary of how much longer they’re going to support it. You might also look both at the Core-Sound OctoMic and also Voyage Audio’s 2nd Order microphone, which can record to a tablet or smart-phone, but is somewhat unwieldy for mounting in a windshield. I had variable results with it in testing, but it does have the advantage of not needing a separate recorder. The OctoMic is my microphone of choice at the moment: it can be fitted into a Rycote Cyclone and works well with both the Zoom F8 and the Sound Devices Mix-Pre 10ii. That said, there was a mammoth test of Ambisonic microphones carried out earlier this year in the UK, by a number of interested parties and I believe that comparative results will be made available soon.
