Of course, expanded threads with unread messages show the
individual messages as roman (read) or bold (unread).
If I understand correctly, he wants to distinguish between existing
unread messages and new unread messages, in the folder pane and the
thread pane.
In that case, we'll need a clear definition of the difference between
"new" and "unread" as he understands it.
I do sometimes toggle a message back to "unread" after I've read it
because I want to go back and read it again later. But as a general
rule, new messages are unread and unread messages are new in my world.
