For this task you need knowledge about OpenGL, geometry and astronomy.
Right now Stellarium displays comets like rocky body (as asteroids)
without his tails. This correct display for comets who has long
distance from Sun. But when comet moved near the Sun it have a two
tails - dust and gaseous.

You need calculate direction, size and brightness for this tails for
each comets and render it on the Stellarium's sky. Mathematical model
for comet tails you can found via NASA ADS.
