Well, Chris Santerre has a site that groups some of the common rules together. It's under development and you'll find it at: http://www.merchantsoverseas.com/wwwroot/gorilla/sa_rules.htm Jennifer's popcorn, backhair and weeds rules are awesome. You can find the latest set at: http://www.emtinc.net/spamhammers.htm. (Chris usually puts the update on his site too, but it wasn't there the last I checked.) > Are they all just a matter of dropping the .ch into the SA > configuration directory, or is it best to edit before deploying? Yes, just drop the .cf file into the config directory. Unless you know what you're doing or (in the case of Chris' "evil" rules, you want to pare them down to the highest hitting ones. > Are there any recommendations on which sets/combinations of > rules to run? I use the popcorn, backhair and weeds along with the arix rbl set. That with SA 2.60's effective rules and bayes engine seems to get the majority of our spam. I have noticed a higher FP rate with 2.60 on "solicited" commercial e-mail. I may have to adjust my autolearn levels eventually to cope with that better. > Does running additional rules affect the bayes engine? It might push the score over the autolearn threshhold, but it won't interfere with bayes unless you start learning too many false positives.
